ADULT EDUCATION<\/strong><\/p><\/h2><\/div>

\u00a0\u00a0Education for Ministry (EFM)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Education for Ministry (EFM) will be offered beginning this fall to interested parishioners through the Diocese of Bethlehem. EFM is an educational program for lay people that spans four years of study and sharing, whose aim is “a theologically informed, reflective, and articulate laity.” Participants read, reflect upon, and share the impact of course material on their lives and together explore how God is present in the world. EFM strives to “shape faith into action” and prepare each student to discern and refine personal ministry in the community.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Year 1 is devoted to Hebrew scripture; Year 2 is to New Testament studies; Year3 to Christian history; and Year 4 to theologies. Founded in 1975 at Sewanee University, the Episcopal “University of the South,” EFM is regionally facilitated through the Episcopal Church in small lay-led groups that meet weekly for two to three hours. EFM groups meet and learn in diocese around the globe. Each program year is a 36-week stand-alone unit of study, costing $325, with advanced learning scholarships of 50% from the Episcopal Church Women (ECW).\u00a0 There is an additional charge for textbooks.<\/div>\n

At the completion of the four-year program of study, students are awarded a certificate of completion.<\/div>\n

Sunday\u00a0Forum<\/b><\/h3>\n

An informal gathering and discussion, open to the public each Sunday morning from 9:10 to 10:00 and is led by members of the congregation as well as speakers from outside the church on a wide range of topics.<\/span><\/p>\n

A lending library open to the public Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 to 12:00, during and after worship services, and by appointment (Call or text 610-763-4339.). We have an array of Bible translations and editions of the <\/span>Book of Common Prayer,<\/i><\/span> as well as books on theology, women\u2019s spiritual studies, world religion, prayer, music and the arts, church history, contemplation, centering prayer and meditation, mysticism, Native American spirituality, Celtic Christianity, and many other topics. In addition, we have a small collection of lovely children\u2019s books, a collection of poetry from ancient to contemporary, including sacred poetry from the Christian and other faith traditions, audio books, and music cd\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n
